Preparing food with a sharp knife empowers the home chef and elevates a mundane task to a satisfying, if not, pleasurable experience.

In this hands-on workshop, guests will be equipped to take whatever knife is lying around in their kitchen and get it to sharpness that they had previously unimagined. No more smashed tomatoes or sawing away at your steak. A sharp knife does the work for you with ease and safety. Andy, our resident knife sharpener, has been sharpening his own kitchen knives for years as well as all the knives we use in our butcher shop. His basic approach, using whetstones, is easy to understand and master with a little practice. Eight attendees will be guided through the entire knife sharpening experience with one of their own kitchen knives or one in our butcher shop.  They will use their own sharpening whetstone  (provided as part of the class) to develop their skills and they can take it home to advance further. The culmination of our efforts will be a lunch with plenty of charcuterie, veggies, bread, and cheese that need to be chopped, sliced, and minced.
